About Us
A southern woman born and bred, "Grandma Adkins" as I lovingly called her, was the sweetest, most gentle women I ever met. Growing up, the only time I got to spend time with her was over the summer. Those summers were filled with bike rides on vacant North Carolina streets, the aroma from the paper factory a few miles off, the crunch of pine cones beneath my feet and the smoke of barbecue on the back porch.
Basically when I think of my Grandma Adkins, I think of sweet, sweet nature.
That is what I hope to capture in my candles. I aim to create multi-sensory experiences with my candles through use of vivid colors, naturalesque scents and crackling wood wicks.
But more importantly, I hope to honor a woman who meant a great deal to me. Many people associate me with my maternal grandmother, who was the first lady of my church, a pillar in the community and someone I took care of for 8 years. Needless to say upon her death, she was memorialized in great fashion.
Grandma Adkins may not have had the same level of recognition as my maternal grandmother while she was living, but it's my mission to make sure that her name is never forgotten through Lillie's Candle Company.
